Make a difference in the 2026 Tax Season

 

During the 2025 tax season, our volunteers have helped approximately 14,000 people file their taxes for free – – saving them money and stress while bringing millions of tax dollars back into our communities.

You don’t need tax experience to join us. We provide free IRS-certified training and all the support you need. Whether you prefer working in person or from home, there’s a role for you!

Your time will directly help families, seniors, students, and individuals in need. Even a few hours a week can change many lives.

Benefits of Volunteering

 

– Free IRS‑certified training — even if you don’t know anything about taxes yet, we’ll train you.

– Flexible weekly shifts during tax season (late January to mid‑April).

– Build real-world skills (intake, client service, leadership).

– Standout on your résumé!

– A direct way to support people in your community.

– Personal use: You can prepare returns for yourself, your friends, and your family for free using your skills and our tax software. These personal returns do not need to follow VITA guidelines.

– CE credits available for eligible professionals.

-Review clients’ uploaded documents and start their virtual tax process
-Prepare at least 5 tax returns per week, all remotely
-Review virtual tax returns for accuracy before e-filing

FAQs

Q: Do I need tax experience?

A: Not at all! We provide FREE training and materials, along with a constant support system.

Q: What kinds of support are available?

A: You’ll receive free training, resources, and 1-on-1 mentoring.

Q: Can I volunteer remotely?

 A: Yes, many  roles are fully virtual.

Q: Is there a minimum time commitment?

A: We ask for at least 6–8 hours a week during the tax season, but we’re flexible!

You do NOT need prior tax preparation experience!

If you do have a financial background, that’s a plus, but it it is NOT required!

All we ask is that you have a willingness to help others and that you complete the necessary training before you begin directly helping our neighbors, family, and friends.

We provide all the training and training materials you need – at no cost to you!
